Kyoto University of Foreign Studies is implementing an internet application system for the Japanese Studies Center for International Students starting from April 2017 admission.

Flow of application

Register "My Account" My Account can be registered as early as 10 days prior to the first day of applications.
Entry and submission of application data (1) Applicants can enter and submit their personal entry data through internet during the application period.
Reason for applying and plan after completion (2) Download the paper form. Write in Japanese, then scan and upload to the site. Download the paper form (PDF: 18KB)
Certificate of health (3) Download the paper form. Bring it to a public medical organization and receive their certificate on it. Then scan and upload to the site. Download the paper form (PDF: 47KB)
Other required documents should be sent via post mail.
Other required documents (4) - (14)
  • (4) Certificate of Graduation (or prospective graduation) issued by the (senior) high school. Only a certified copy is acceptable.
  • (5) An official transcript of the student's academic record issued by the high school. Only a certified copy is acceptable. The transcript must have explanations on grading practices.
  • (6) A document which certifies the applicant's qualification to enter a university (if applicable).
  • (7) A copy of results obtained in the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), Japanese Language Proficiency Test (for those students who have already taken the examination) or a document certifying that the applicant has studied the Japanese language for a total of more than 150 hours.
  • (8) Copies of the Alien Registration Certificate (both sides), or the Resident Card (both sides) (if the applicant resides in Japan).
  • (9) All pages of passport, including the identity page.
  • (10) Five photographs (4x3cm) (The photographs must have been taken within the last three months and must show only the applicant's face and shoulders.)

If the applicant has graduated or is currently attending a university or a junior college, he/she should also submit the following documents.

  • (11) The Certificate of Graduation (or graduation expected) issued by the university or junior college.
    Only a certified copy is acceptable.
  • (12) An official transcript of the university or junior college. Only a certified copy is acceptable. The transcript must have an explanation of grading practices.

If the applicant has attended a Japanese university, college and/or language school, he/she should also submit the following documents.

  • (13) The Certificate of Enrollment issued by the educational institution the applicant has attended.Only a certified copy is acceptable.
  • (14) An official transcript issued by the educational institution the applicant has attended. Only a certified copy is acceptable. The official transcript must have an explanation of grading practices.

* If documents are written in languages other than Japanese, English or Chinese, please attach an official translation in English or Japanese. The translation must be certified by a government office.
* The university may request further documents in addition to the ones listed above.

Copies of the necessary documents, or an original copy where required, must be sent via post mail. Use registered express delivery if mailed within Japan. Use EMS or an international courier service if mailed from outside Japan.

Completion of an internet application! Applicants will receive an email from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies when the necessary data entries are completed and the fee is paid.
Make sure your email setting accepts messages sent from the "kufs.ac.jp".
