Kyoto University of Foreign Studies has developed a full system of scholarships to support students' motivation for studying from the financial standpoint.

International students in the Department of Japanese Studies are eligible to receive the following scholarships.

Scholarships Provided by Kyoto University of Foreign Studies

Morita Fund Scholarship

For model students in their 2nd to 4th year of undergraduate studies who have shown exceptional academic performance. Selection is based upon department recommendation.

Alumni Association "Kagayaku Hoshitonaru Gakusei" Scholarship

For students with an exceptional academic record and who exhibit further future potential. Supported by the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies Alumni Association.

Alumni Association Scholarship

For privately-financed international students with an exceptional academic record and who will contribute to cultural interchange with Japan. Supported by the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies Alumni Association.

Parents’ Association Scholarship

For international students with an exceptional academic record and who find it difficult to attend school due to financial reasons. Supported by the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies Parents' Association.

Financial Assistance Provided by Kyoto University of Foreign Studies

Tuition fees Reduction System for insponsored International Students

For privately-financed international students with an exceptional academic record and who find it difficult to pay school fees due to financial reasons. Supported by Kyoto University of Foreign Studies.

Scholarships Provided by National and Local Governments and Private Entities

There are a number of scholarships seeking recipients that are provided by various local governments and private scholarship organizations (corporate and institutional).
