The University Museum of Cultures have been conducting the Field Museum project in Nyugun Echizencho, Fukui Prefecture. Kumadani University is an advanced version of the one-time programs that they previously worked on with local residents of Echizencho Kumadani and is targeted at the general public.
The opening ceremony held in May as well as a shiitake mushroom cultivation workshop where participants hammered plug spawns into drilled holes of a log, were featured on a show on Tannan Cable Television broadcasted in the beginning of June. A clip on their YouTube channel has been released as well.
