A scholarship award ceremony was held for the 5th recipient of the Kyoto-Mexico Friendship Program, Akira Eduardo Shukuya Ono, in the 2nd-floor Special Guest Room, Building 1, on April 8th. The award certificate was presented by Kunio Nanbu, Chairman of the Kyoto-Mexico Friendship Program, and the certificate of scholarship was handed by Dr. Yoshikazu Morita, Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors, as he recited his words of encouragement.

With the certificates in hand, Akira Eduardo Shukuya Ono closed the ceremony by commenting in Spanish, “I’ll make my best effort to learn Japanese and Japanese culture,” in a nervous but determined tone. The ceremony ended on a delightful note with a round of applause from the Kyoto-Latin America Cultural Association and KUFS staffs who participated in the ceremony.
