The awards ceremony for the “Language and Peace” Special Award for academic year 2018 was held on Thursday, May 16th. A total of 203 groups from both the University and Junior College delivered their presentations, and only 6 groups (24 students) were selected for the Special Award. Prior to the ceremony, recipients gave their presentations once again to 1st-year students in the Morita Memorial Hall.

“Language and Peace” is a multidisciplinary subject offered only at KUFS. It is designed to teach our school motto “World Peace through Languages” and raise awareness about social issues, so that our students will have the foundations to continue learning at KUFS.

During the ceremony, words of encouragement were given to the awardees. “It is a joy to see you understand and demonstrate our school motto through this wonderful class. Keep improving your personal communication skills, don’t forget to be independent-minded and proactive, and have a strong will,” said Vice President Kikuko Yui. “Be someone who can make a difference in the world,” advised Professor Masao Aikawa, Director of Education. Finally, Professor Jo Higuchi, Chair of the Liberal Arts Studies which offers “Languages and Peace” said, “take advantage of what you learned in class: the importance of group work and having a critical mind.”
