On Friday, June 17th, third and fourth-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Studies’ Department of Hispanic Studies held an online exchange session with students studying Japanese at the Faculty of Translation and Documentation at KUFS’s partner institution in Spain, Universidad de Salamanca.
A total of 16 students participated in the session, speaking in both Spanish and Japanese to exchange opinions on various topics such as world affairs and culture. It was a great opportunity to practice their expression skills in a foreign language and increase their knowledge about foreign cultures. Due to the students’ requests, the session exceeded the initially planned 75 minutes and lasted for three hours.
Under the supervision of a faculty who is a native Spanish speaker in the Department of Hispanic Studies and Professor Sayaka Kato (KUFS’s Master’s program alumni) of Universidad de Salamanca, the students prepared for the session by working on collaborative tasks in their own places. The students from both universities developed a sense of camaraderie, enjoying the actual online session in a relaxed manner.
The Department of Hispanic Studies seeks to continue having a cooperative relationship with Universidad de Salamanca and increase exchange opportunities between the students.
