A certificate award ceremony for the Two-month Online Japanese Intensive Course was held online on Friday, November 12th, connecting the 2nd floor of Building 8 with 6 countries and regions. The course is a new program that was introduced this academic year due to the suspension of welcoming inbound students during this pandemic. It is our way to maintain a strong relationship with our partner institutions even in hard times by offering online Japanese classes for exchange students who wish to come to KUFS and providing an online socialization opportunity between our students and students around the world.
The program was attended by 11 students from 10 partner institutions in 6 countries and regions, and the award ceremony was celebrated among a total of 36 participants—including the students who have completed the course, faculty, and current students. As President Takeshi Matsuda awarded a certificate to a student representative, he said, “Through this program, you learned a lot, respected one another, and perhaps you are even more motivated to come study in Japan one day. Please remember this valuable experience and I hope that you would continue learning Japanese.”
Student speaker Claudia Colombo from the University of Milan looked back on her two-month experience: “Everything about the course was wonderful—the classes, online exchanges with KUFS students—it was a worthwhile experience. Next spring semester I wish to actually come to KUFS and meet everyone.” Her speech was then followed by congratulatory messages and each participating student also expressed their gratitude. The students seemed a little sad as the ceremony ended but promised to reunite in Japan someday.
