On Thursday, May 26th, the Faculty of Foreign Studies’ Department of Hispanic Studies hosted a lecture titled “How to pass the ball in life” by Mr. Akihito Ido, who currently interprets for Scotland’s Celtic F.C. and manages business development in Japan and its neighboring regions.

The lecture seemed to inspire and motivate students to pursue their studies, as there were various positive feedback as follows:
“I admire him for using his language skills to compete in the world.”
“I’m interested in becoming a football interpreter and I learned the importance of supporting players not only with language but emotionally as well.”
“Listening to him speak about his life, how he used to be a college student who wasn’t that interested in soccer or Spanish but growing up to be an interpreter, was like listening to a hero recite his autobiography. I learned that you never know what awaits you in this wonderful life.”
“What struck me the most was when he said how learning a language is a step toward finding your path to success.”
