Today, there are many instances where we interact with people from different backgrounds, and it is now more important than ever to be able to communicate in the language of the other person. At the same time, we still seldomly have easy access to learning about what words are in each language.
This encyclopedia is put together by specialists and speakers of each language, introducing 81 official languages, semi-official languages, and regional languages, with information on grammar, pronunciation, and how to write with the alphabet.
Each section is concisely put together, in either four or six pages, and can be read from any page. They are organized in common subtitles so that readers can compare between languages.
Furthermore, there is a separate glossary that compiles the linguistic terms mentioned inside so that all readers can comprehend this encyclopedia. There are many sample sentences, all added with katakana to help readers read out loud.
It is a recommended guide for those who wish to learn different languages and get to know people from around the world.

Associate Professor Hanamoto wrote the “Italian” section of “Chapter 6: Northern and Western Europe” (pages 252–257) of this Encyclopedia.
