An award ceremony was held on Wednesday, January 17, 2023, during lunchtime, for 66 students who engaged in extensive reading in English, Spanish and French languages.
Prizes were awarded to students for their achievement in extensive reading in the English, French and Spanish languages. Students received a certificate and a book coupon in recognition of their achievements.
28 students from the Faculty of Foreign Studies (16 students from the Department of British and American Studies; 12 students majoring in other languages,but reading in English), 11 students from the Department of Global Engagement (5 students from the Department of Global Studies; 6 students from the Department of Global Tourism) and 14 students from the Department of English Studies for Careers of the junior college received awards.
Also, 5 students from the Department of Hispanic Studies, reading in Spanish, and 8 students from the Department of French Studies, reading in French, were recognized for their achievements.
The prize for the top reader within the university was taken by Taichi SANO, a student of the Department of Chinese Studies. He read 735,154 words (in English).
In addition to the members of the Extensive Reading Research Group, who arranged the ceremony, participants included the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the Dean of the Faculty of Global Engagement, the Director of The University Library, the Chair of the Department of Hispanic Studies, the Chair of Department of French Studies, and Paul Goldberg, CEO of XReading. Our thanks to all of the participants and congratulations to all of the students for their achievements.
