【Japan-America Student Conference】
The Japan-America Student Conference (JASC) is the first organization in Japan dedicated to international student exchange. Aimed for the improvement of American feelings toward Japan and restoring mutual trust between the two nations, the organization was established in 1934 with the belief that, “World peace is in the Pacific, and peace in the Pacific means peace between Japan and the U.S. And students should also play a role in it.”
Ever since, JASC has studied Japan-U.S. relations and the various issues surrounding the two countries from multiple perspectives. In this day and age, however, with the progression of globalization and advancements in developing countries, we are expected to tackle broader ranges of diverse issues from not only the Japan-U.S. standpoint, but with a global perspective.
In this conference, the same number of students from Japan and the U.S. will live together over a course of approximately one month to conduct various discussions and activities. It is aimed to deepen mutual understanding among participants of both countries by collectively engaging in active discussions regarding various world issues throughout the entire conference. Participants will, in the long term, contribute and give back to the society what they achieved from this conference.
