Kyoto University has concluded a comprehensive agreement with KYOTO CITY INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION for the purpose of training community interpreters who have obtained the international standard “ISO13611:2014 Guidelines for Interpretation - Community Interpretation" certification.
Community Interpreters to assist foreign residents who cannot access public services such as medical care, education, social welfare, administration, and justice due to language barriers. The greater number of foreigners living in Japan increases, the more the demand for communication mediators increases. We have newly established a specialized subject related to community interpreting at our university to cultivate talents who will play a role in a multicultural society. If you clear certain conditions, you will be awarded the "ISO13611: 2014 Guidelines for Interpreting – Community Interpreting" certificate. (Available languages: English, Portuguese, Chinese, and Russian)
The purpose of this agreement is to promote the mutual exchange and utilization of human and intellectual resources, and to contribute to the mutual enhancement and development for activation of educational activities of the university and the social activities of the KYOTO CITY INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION.
