On Friday, September 20th, a send-off was held for volunteer interpreters to participate in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Volunteer interpreters from KUFS will be in charge of on-site operation and guidance, due to a partnership agreement between the Rugby World Cup 2019 Organizing Committee and the Consortium of Foreign Studies in Japan.
The send-off party was attended by 5 students and 1 KUFS staff. Highly motivated, they shared their enthusiasm as follows: “I’d like to approach people with a friendly smile on my face,” “I’d like to learn about various cultures from our foreign guests,” and “If I can take part in making even just a single person into a rugby fan, that would be awesome.”
Executive Director Yoshitaka Choja encouraged the volunteers by saying, “Believe in your experiences as volunteer interpreters and make them your own as you engage with people.” He then closed his hand to form a fist and exclaimed, “Gambaro! (‘Let’s do this!’)” to lift their spirits and wish for a successful event.
