In the 2020 (Reiwa 2) Spring Conferment of Decorations, Professor Emeritus Hajime Ōyama was awarded the Order of Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette, in acknowledgement for his achievements in education and research.

Professor Emeritus Ōyama was appointed instructor at the Kyoto Junior College of Foreign Studies in 1971. After progressing up the academic ladder to Assistant Professor and then to Professor, he assumed his professorship at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies in 1987. He pursued his passion of teaching and studying physical education for 42 years until his retirement in March 2008, giving lectures on physical education and teaching physical activities at KUFS.

Professor Emeritus Ōyama also held successive positions at the University, becoming the head of the Health and Physical Education Laboratory, then the Director of the Division of Student Affairs. He played a central role in student services in both the University and Junior College administrations, making notable contributions to the development of our academic environment.
