On Monday, July 15 (a national holiday), Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS) held the "Weekday Campus Visit" open-campus event in which participants were able to directly experience KUFS classes. This event is a program intended to help high school students discover their ideal future academic paths by giving them the opportunity to attend actual classes together with current KUFS students and experience life at the University for themselves.
A total of 42 high school students joined the event, attending classes and enjoying lunch in the student cafeteria as part of their one-day KUFS student experience. They also received guidance prior to and following class sessions, and engage in activities to reflect on their experiences which entailed comparing impressions of university life and classroom experiences at KUFS as well as receiving advice on post-high-school career path selection.
Feedback from participants included, "I was able to get a clearer idea of what campus life would be like," "Although it seems like there will be a lot of homework and studying, the enjoyment of university life seems to make that all worthwhile, which puts me at ease," "It gave me a better idea of what university-level classes are like," and "There were people from more countries speaking more languages than I had imagined."
