A delegation from the University of Aizu, led by Dr. Toshiaki Miyazaki, Chairperson of the Board of Executives and President, visited KUFS on Monday, October 26th and Tuesday, the 27th. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Yoshikazu Morita, Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors, and the rest of the KUFS community.
Specializing in computer science and engineering, the University of Aizu promotes joint efforts between the industrial, government and academic sectors through the utilization of information and communications technology. Through Dr. Morita’s personal connection to Aizu prefecture, including his affiliation to the Kyoto Aizu Association as the Honorary Chairperson, the two universities have concluded an exchange agreement in 2007, and have since continued to hold student events and exchange various information.
During the meeting, Dr. Miyazaki spoke, “I am grateful that our student exchanges are continuing. They are inspiring opportunities for our students studying in very different academic fields—language and international studies on one hand, and computer science and engineering on the other.” He also shared his thoughts on possible collaborations among faculty. To which Dr. Morita replied, “Although Kyoto and Aizu are quite far apart in terms of geographical distance, I also wish to continue our exchanges in a variety of ways.”
Furthermore, a meeting regarding the promotion of exchanges between the two universities was held on the 6th floor of Building 4 on Tuesday, the 27th, and a discussion was held regarding the possible exchanges of students, faculty and staff, and joint research.
