Students from the University of Texas at San Antonio Visited Us for the First Time in Five Years

A total of 27 students and faculty members from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), our partner university, visited us for the first time in five years on Tuesday, May 23. A welcome lunch party was held at Cafe Taro on the ground floor of Building No.9. "I hope you will learn various things”, Director of International Affairs Atsuhito Kurozumi said at the party, “through this training," and Mr. Max Joule presented a souvenir to Mr. Kurozumi on behalf of the UTSA students.

In addition to Director of International Affairs Kurozumi, students who have studied abroad at UTSA and members of the Division of International Affairs' Student Ambassador (S.A.) also participated at the lunch party. They seemed to enjoy interacting with each other, such as talking in English about the food and culture of their own countries. "I miss my days in the United States,” Ryo Matsudaira, a Senior student in the Department of English and American Studies who was studying at UTSA on the exchange program [Study Abroad A] until March, said, “because it has been a long time since I was able to talk to my friends from when I was studying abroad” and looked happy to see his friend again.

The group will stay in Kyoto for about 10 days from Wednesday, May 17th, visiting the Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design, factories at companies in Kyoto, going sightseeing in Kyoto city, and attended a lecture by Director of Division of International Affairs Kurozumi and Professor Jeff Berglund of Department of Global Tourism.
