On Monday, July 8, a ceremony was held to present scholarships to successful applicants among students departing to study abroad in fall 2024 and English language study students. A total of 66 students received scholarships, including 53 in the Study Abroad A category, 9 in the Study Abroad B category, 1 in the Study Abroad C category, and 3 in the Summer English Language Studies category. Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS) Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors Tetsushi Horikawa presented the scholarship recipient list to study abroad recipient representative Waka Sudo (third year, Department of French Studies, Faculty of Foreign Studies), and to English language studies recipient representative Komugi Maruyama (first year, Department of English Studies for Careers, Junior College).

Mr. Horikawa told the students, "I hope you will achieve great individual growth during your time abroad and return to be a more active student here at KUFS. I look forward to seeing what you accomplish."

President Takahiro Ono added his own words of kind encouragement, stating, "I hope you will absorb everything you experience to the fullest as you pursue your studies abroad. I encourage you to make all preparations necessary beforehand to ensure your own safety, and come back to Japan healthy and happy."

In response, acting representative for all scholarship recipients Kotone Nakai (fourth year, Department of Italian Studies, Faculty of Foreign Studies) expressed his gratitude, saying, "All of us embarking on study abroad programs will serve as proud representatives of KUFS, strive to bring Japan and the wider world closer together, always remain deeply thankful for this valuable opportunity which we have been given, and pursue our individual dreams and goals as we undertake student life abroad. Thank you very much for this opportunity."
