Firstly, we would like to take this to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all students, parents and guardians who have cooperated with KUFS and the measures that we have implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
As you may be aware, the prefectural governments of Kyoto, Osaka and Hyogo rescinded the State of Emergency Declaration on March 1st, 2021.
In accordance with this announcement, based on our protocols which were updated on December 24th, 2020, our Alert Level shall be lowered from Level 3 (Heightened Precautions) to Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution) as of March 1st, 2021, and the following measures shall apply therein.
Specifically, these are the measures in place regarding students on campus, clerical and office matters and the operations of the dining halls, cafeteria, bookstore and shops.
1.Students on Campus
Until April 18th, 2021, students shall only be allowed to access self-study room (R.642) and the library. Students need to apply for permission to access these locations prior to coming to campus.
Hours of operation for the self-study room: Mon-Fri from 9am to 4pm
Students wishing to apply for permission to use the self-study room can do so here .
*Should you intend to attend such events prior to the start of classes as orientations for AY 2021, it is NOT required to apply for permission to come onto campus.

*Please note that students are not permitted on campus on Sundays, National Holidays, as well as during the University Entrance Examination Period, Graduation/Commencement and Enrollment Ceremonies.
*Details on the timetables and orientation sessions prior to the start of classes for the spring semester will be posted to the official KUFS website at around the early of March as “Schedule of Events Prior to the Start of Classes”. Please be sure to check the KUFS website for these updates around the early of March.
2.Clerical/Office Matters
Until April 18th, 2021, all interaction with office staff will be over email and/or telephone, during the office hours as stated below.
Office hours: 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm
*Please note that office staff are unavailable on Sundays, National Holidays, as well as during the University Entrance Examination period, Graduation/ Commencement and Enrollment Ceremonies.
*Any students wishing to communicate in person with the office staff, please make contact first with the relevant division/department and make an appointment before coming on campus.
3.Dining Halls, Cafeteria, Bookstore and Shops
For the time being, these facilities will remain closed. Updates and notifications will be posted accordingly once a decision has been made as to when to reopen these facilities.
Even though the State of Emergency Declaration has been rescinded, we ask all students, parents and guardians to remain vigilant and careful as we strive to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. As the situation evolves going forwards, any changes to our approach will be posted on the official KUFS website, so please visit the website for the latest updates.
