Regarding the Novel Coronavirus (A Message from the President)
Thanks to the cooperation of our faculty members, the 2020 entrance ceremonies for the Graduate School, the University, the Junior College, and the Japanese Studies Center for International Students would have been canceled, and classes are to begin on May 7th(Thur.) and end on August 12th (Wed.) for the purpose of preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
However, there is still no sign of an end to its spread, and I suspect that our students may be concerned as they experience the multiple restrictions that society is being forced to undergo.
It is important for we the members of the faculty to take action based on accurate information to bring the spread of this infection under control. In addition to encouraging handwashing, gargling, and wearing masks, I ask you to help instruct students to refrain from any behavior that could lead you to be in confined or congested spaces, or come into close contact with others, as well as avoid such situations yourself.
During the period until classes begin, members of faculty are expected to work hard to create lesson plans and teaching materials that will help students to self-study.
By working together with our fellow faculty members, we at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and the Kyoto Junior College of Foreign Languages, I believe we will be able to overcome these trying times.

President
