The Human Rights Week at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and the Kyoto Junior College of Foreign Languages will take place from December 4th. The focus this year will be “Children’s rights: the internally displaced children in Nigeria” to educate us about the current situations surrounding those children in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Courtesy of Mainichi Shimbun’s Osaka Headquarters, we put together images that portray the realities of young girls who escaped from Boko Haram, former child soldiers, and children suffering from poverty. The documents will be a compilation of images that were included in Mainichi Shimbun’s Save the World’s Children Campaign in November 2019, as well as those that have not been published.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have organized the events so that they will be accessible through the KUFS website. The photo exhibition as well as a lecture by photojournalist Kazuki Yamazaki of the Mainichi Shimbun’s Osaka Headquarters will be available for viewing online.
We hope that our online events will be attended by as many guests as possible, and that they present as an opportunity for you to think about human rights and the dignity of children and refugees.
