A collaborative project between the Faculty of Global Engagement’s Department of Global Tourism and the student group Hear Me Okinawa called the “Okinawa Peace Museum” was held on campus from Monday, November 8th. The event was held both in-person and online, comprised of panel exhibitions, VR tours and a seminar by a museum in Okinawa.
On the first day, panel exhibitions and VR tours were held at the southern hallway on the 1st floor of Building 1, the 1st floor of Building 4 and the Special Events Lounge at Building 11. There was also a showing of an anime film titled Himeyuri. Panels continued to be exhibited until the 12th (Friday).
Prior to the event, students spent some time thinking about the project after listening to an online lecture by the Himeyuri Peace Museum, learning about the Battle of Okinawa as well as the island’s rich culture and tourism. The event was representative of KUFS’s school motto “World Peace Through Languages,” providing an opportunity for visitors to learn about the Battle of Okinawa.
