As the world faces a dire shortage of masks due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), our university has received a kind donation of 2,500 masks from the International Education Association Shanghai on Saturday, March 21st. An addition of 2,500 masks are expected to arrive shortly.
Our relationship with the International Education Association Shanghai has been continuing for over 30 years. As a cultural bridge between China and Japan, we have co-hosted the All Japan Chinese Speech Contest and the Japanese Presentation Contest among university students in Shanghai. Dr. Yoshikazu Morita, Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors, has sent a message of support and encouragement to Chairman Jiang Haishan and the Association on Tuesday, February 4th, when the infection was spreading in Mainland China.
Also enclosed inside the box full of masks was a letter that thanked Dr. Morita for his message. The letter also included warm words of encouragement: “let’s gather our strengths together to get through this difficult time, and conquer this fight against the novel coronavirus.”
The donated masks will be distributed to persons affiliated with our university.
