A virtual event was held on Saturday, February 13th, with guest speaker Ms. Riyo Michishita, graduate of the Faculty of Foreign Studies’ Department of French Studies (Class of 2014) and currently a sales representative at a foreign IT company.
Titling her presentation as “C’est la vie: the emotional roller coaster of job searching, too, shall pass” Ms. Michishita spoke about finding employment while still in college, how she switched jobs, and her current profession.
A total of 11 second-year and third-year students of the Department of French Studies attended the event. Post-event comments included “I’m glad that she mentioned specific numbers and job tasks that other info sessions don’t normally talk about” “It really resonated with me when she said that your four years in college is not what decides the life you want to live” and “It was good to be able to ask some basic questions that I find harder to do at formal occasions.”
Listening to someone who has been in their shoes was a good opportunity for the students to think about their future jobs and the lives they want to live.
The same event is scheduled in April as well. All students of the Department of French Studies are highly welcome to join!
