The AY 2022 Japanese Studies Center for International Students Certificate Award Ceremony was held for a total of 33 graduates, including students from the Japanese Studies Center for International Students and special auditing students (exchange students and inbound students).
With Assistant Professor Fumiko Shiratori, Chair of the Japanese Studies Center for International Students, and other University affiliated personnel in the audience, President Takeshi Matsuda awarded the certificate to Dacomo Tommaso from Università degli Studi di Firenze, Italy on behalf of all the graduates.
President Matsuda recited an acrostic to the graduates, with the Japanese word Omotenashi:
O: Omoiyari no kokoro to (With compassion)
Mo: Mokuhyou wo mochi (and goals)
Te: Tema wo oshimazu (spare no effort)
Na: Nakama wo taisetsu ni (cherish your friends)
Shi: Jishin wo motsu (and have confidence)
Furthermore, he said, “Keep in mind this attitude to learn, keep studying about Japan even after you go home, and I hope that one day you will be a bridge between your home country and Japan.”
Cai Jia from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China, special auditing students (exchange students and inbound students) expressed gratitude, saying, “We will soon be returning to our home universities and each pursue our own paths, but we will never forget how fun it was to live and study here in Japan. When another opportunity arises, we will definitely come visit again.”
Lastly, a big round of applause was given to President Matsuda and Vice President Kurozumi, who have both completed their terms at the end of July.
