On Monday, September 28th, a delegation from the Embassy of Belgium led by Her Excellency Mrs. Roxane de Bilderling, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Yoshikazu Morita, Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors. KUFS is a partner university of Université de Mons, Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Université de Liège, all of which a number of our students have studied abroad. Students are striving to boost their language skills by studying in a country where the official language is French.
Mrs. de Bilderling was appointed Ambassador of Belgium to Japan about a year ago. She is committed to the development of an amicable relationship between the two countries.
Recalling his past, Dr. Morita said, “My personal connection to Belgium began 50 years ago, when I helped run the Belgian pavilion at the 1970 World Exposition in Osaka. The country may be geographically small, but is culturally rich and dense.”
The group then went for a stroll in the Garden of Silence and passed by a Manneken Pis, an icon of the Belgian capital. Ambassador de Bilderling seemed to have appreciated the walk and commented, “That was very nice. Please visit us in Tokyo some time.”
