An interview with Professor Hiroshi Minami (Faculty of Global Engagement’s Department of Global Tourism), Director of University Museum of Cultures, was published on Page 25 of Kyoto Shimbun’s morning paper on Saturday, June 13th.
The article introduces the Ohara Hōun Collection, a collection of art from ancient Central and South America, donated to the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies’ University Museum of Cultures in May 2019. In the interview, Professor Minami comments that “the impact of this collection is significant,” describing how fascinating it is to imagine the time period and cultures of when these old works of art were made. He also explained how and why the Museum received this donation as well as his attention to detail in the way the antiquities are exhibited.
