On Friday, December 20th, Mr. Masatoshi Soeda, the Director of the Japanese Cultural Centre at KUFS’s partner university Universiti Sains Malaysia, came to KUFS and met with Dr. Yoshikazu Morita, Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors, to update him on operations and inform him about his bestowment of honor.

The KUFS-USM Japanese Cultural Centre at Penang, Malaysia, was founded for the purpose of fostering global talent who can contribute to social peace, sustainable advancement, and stronger collaboration with other ASEAN regions. Since its establishment in March 2016, students from KUFS as well as the Kyoto Gaidai Nishi High School have actively utilized the facility for language education and collaborative activities with neighboring communities.

Upon hearing the news of Director Soeda’s visit to KUFS, Mr. Kazunori Kuboi and Ms. Lisa Cross, both teachers at the Kyoto Gaidai Nishi High School who visited the Japanese Cultural Centre last year, rushed to greet him to thank him once again and provide an update on their students from then on.

Furthermore, Mr. Masatoshi Soeda (79 years of age) was recently recognized for his years of international activities and was conferred The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Rays in autumn 2019. Dr. Morita congratulated him for his great achievement.
