An article featuring our students’ participation in our community engagement program was published on Page 22 of Mainichi Shimbun’s morning paper on Thursday, December 12th.

Four 2nd-year students of the Faculty of Global Engagement’s Department of Global Tourism who are currently training at Kinosakicho Yushima, Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture hosted a free straw crafts workshop at the 1st-floor lobby of Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei. For the purpose of getting visitors to learn about Kinosaki’s traditional craft, the students planned the event by themselves, and negotiated with the hotel to hold this event.

The students were busy managing the well-received workshop, as overnight guests dressed in yukatas stopped by to partake in the event ceaselessly. The article also includes a comment made by one student: “we hope that straw crafts would spread into other areas of the country.”
