41th All Japan Student Portuguese Speech Contest Results Report

The 41th All Japan Student Portuguese Speech Contest was held at the university on Saturday, November 18.
17 students from 8 universities nationwide (including 4 students from the university) spoke passionately about their themes in front of 6 judges including embassy officials.

Saaya Fukuda, a junior student in the Department of Brazilian and Portuguese Studies, the Faculty of Foreign Studies of the university, spoke with a smile about her passion for language drama in her presentation titled "Acting in Portuguese is Living (Encenar em português é vida)." She captured the hearts of the judges and won the first place (Portugal Ambassador's to Japan Cup).

In addition, Arisa Matsuo, a freshman student in the same department, gave a speech entitled "Accept Me as I am (Acceitando-me como sou)," in which she shared her experience of overcoming a painful past and becoming proud of her roots. She won the second place (Kyoto University of Foreign Studies President's Cup).

Also, Seiichiro Aonuma, a freshman student in the same department, gave a presentation titled “The Beauty of Kendo - Fascinated by Traditional Martial Arts (A beleza do kendo, a esgrima japonesa),” conveying the appeal of Kendo while mentioning the similarities between kendo and capoeira. He won 4th place and received the Honorary Consul of Portugal Award in Kobe.
