AY 2021 spring semester classes began under clear blue skies on Monday, April 19th. Infection prevention measures were taken, including the measurement of body temperatures, cleaning and disinfection, and the installment of transparent partitions to prevent droplet transmission. As in-person classes resumed except for a few, it appeared as though pre-pandemic norms were slowly coming back to our campus.
First-year students seemed to feel uneasy but excited, as some commented, “I already feel a bit overwhelmed with classes, but the professors seemed easy to get along with” and “Surrounded by other students on campus made me realize that I’m now a college student.” In addition, a second-year student who took most of their classes online last year said, “I was happy to finally meet my friends whom I’ve got to know through online classes,” as they strolled through the campus with their new friends.
Circumstances are still subject to change, so let’s continue to stay safe and wash our hands, wear masks, and keep our social distances.
