A virtual event session via Zoom was held by the Faculty of Foreign Studies’ Department of French Studies on Saturday, May 8th, with guest speaker Mr. Norio Nakanishi (Class of 2002), who currently works as a professional photographer.
The event was titled “The story of an alumnus who turned his passion into a career”. Mr. Nakanishi talked about how he used self-assessment to turn his passion for photography into a career, and how it was like to start at the bottom and build his way up into becoming a professional photographer. He also advised the students, “Your life isn’t over even if you can’t get a job fresh out of college. Don’t hesitate to count on your professors and friends.”
Students who participated in the gathering made positive remarks about the event, such as “I learned that personal experiences as well as chances obtained from social networking may eventually benefit you in unexpected ways” and “Instead of overthinking and worrying, I’d like to determine what I can do at the present to challenge myself in the future.”
The Department hopes to continue hosting similar events as a way to encourage students to have their own dreams and to maximize their college experience.
