The conferral of diplomas and certificates of completion for students of academic year 2019 was held this month. The ceremony was cancelled due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and the program was partially abbreviated. Diplomas and certificates of completion were conferred under restricted entry and strict infection control measures.
Diplomas for students graduating from the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies Graduate School were conferred on Saturday, March 14th, in the warm spring sunlight breaking through the lingering cold. As faculty and staff gathered to celebrate, the diplomas were handed to students representing each course.
Diplomas for students graduating from the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and the Kyoto Junior College of Foreign Languages, as well as certificates of completion for students of the Japanese Studies Center for International Students, were conferred on Friday, March 20th. Students were grouped into different classrooms according to their departments. Dressed in colorful hakama dresses, the graduates listened to congratulatory addresses made by department chairs and faculty.
Congratulations to all graduates! Graduation marks the beginning of a new chapter in your lives. Keep up your attitude to continue learning as you step out into the world, and strive on. All of us faculty and staff are rooting for you!
