Due to the unprecedented crisis caused by the novel coronavirus first identified in 2019, direct communication among students and the KUFS community as a whole has been significantly restricted. To make up for all the lost opportunities, President Matsuda has suggested that we hold an event where he chats with students. Thus, “Chat with President” was held.
The first session was held on Monday, May 16th, attended by nine graduate students. Although the chat was only an hour-long, many opinions were exchanged followed by an active Q&A session surrounding the theme of “research”. Listening to President Matsuda, who is a historian of US-Japan relations for about half a century, one participant was inspired so deeply that they renewed their passion toward their research.
We plan to hold these sessions again for students and the President to chat with each other, so make sure to apply when we call for participants next time.
