Members of the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS) student-led activism groups Fair Trade Association and Runor Developing Nation Support Activities Group served up fair-trade acai bowls during the KUFS Festival. These treats proved to be popular, selling out completely on both days.

The acai bowls were prepared and served by approximately ten student volunteers (ranging in age from first- to third-year) from the Department of British and American Studies, Department of French Studies and Department of Global Studies. As part of the "Try Using Just a Few Fair-Trade Products in Daily Life!" project, the students used fair-trade coconuts from the Philippines and fair-trade bananas from Latin America. Thanks to the help of a specialty shop, they were able to prepare completely organic acai bowls.
The student volunteers mentioned to customers that a nearby major supermarket sells fair-trade coffee from Latin America, hinting at ways in which people can make societal contributions in their day-to-day lives. Furthermore, each customer's acai bowl came with a "Thank you ♡" message written on the container.

The student groups include members who are outgoing and those who are more reserved, but all of them share the same desire to help others. Moving forward, they plan to come up with new ways of helping people in developing nations through wide-ranging group activities.
