The current exhibition “Ancient Art of the Latin Americas” which showcases the University Museum of Cultures’ own collection was featured on the September 2nd (Monday) issue of the national newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun (page 3 on the evening paper).

The exhibition was organized to be held in the same timing as the International Council of Museums’ General Conference (ICOM Kyoto 2019). It displays about 250 pieces including a collection by Ohara Hōun, textiles and ceramicware from the ancient Andean civilization that mainly flourished around Peru, and oil paintings and prints by Shinobu Tobita. The exhibition is described as “an opportunity to experience the spirit of Latin America.”
