On Saturday, September 20, the 50th anniversary celebration ceremony was held for the Xi'an International Studies University (XISU) School of Japanese Culture and Economy located in Shaanxi Province, China. Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS) President Takahiro Ono and Department of Chinese Studies Chair Toshihiro Okamoto attended as special guests.

Mr. Ono delivered an impassioned address to the packed audience in the event hall, stating that KUFS and XISU consider one another to be extremely valuable partners, and that their partnership has contributed, and will continue contributing, to friendly relations between China and Japan.

A forum was held during the second half of the event, during which Mr. Ono delivered a lecture on the benefits that AI (an area in which China is a leader) offers people throughout the nation. His words left a deep impression on XISU students in particular, and will surely serve as an impetus for the development of new knowledge among linguistic researchers of the future.
