In the afternoon on Friday, April 16th, the entrance ceremony for students who enrolled in academic year 2020 (Reiwa 2) was held. Originally scheduled on April 1st last year, the ceremony was cancelled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Despite current circumstances still being under extraordinary conditions, the ceremony was conducted to take the time to warmly welcome the students who have just finished their first year of studies.
In his ceremonial address, President Takeshi Matsuda said, “When you feel like you want to give it a try, hold on to that feeling, and challenge yourself in this world of possibilities.”
In addition, an orientation was held in the morning for new students of the Faculty of Foreign Studies’ Department of Brazilian and Portuguese Studies, as well as a presentation by current students on college life, studying abroad and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, a capoeira performance was performed by Capoeira Gerais, a club where 2nd-year student Kamui Date is a member. Although for a brief time, the campus was filled with joy as the audience clapped loudly instead of cheering.
Second-year students, congratulations on your enrolment to KUFS. We hope that you keep up your passion, challenge yourself, and enjoy a fulfilling student life.
The entrance ceremony was held in two sessions with infection prevention measures in place.
