The last preparatory lecture for entrance exams for academic year 2019 was held on Saturday, December 8th.
Despite the cold weather – 6 degrees Celsius with an occasional sprinkle of fine rain – the lecture was attended by 200 participants, including university hopefuls and their parents and guardians. Lectures were led by instructors Mr. Seiji Shimamura and Mr. Yosuke Inoue from Filio, a college preparatory school, as they gave tips on how to solve problems in the categories of English, contemporary literature, and classic literature.
Mr. Shimamura said, “It’s important to ‘read’ instead of ‘translating’ to solve English reading comprehension questions. Try to grasp the overall flow of the passage and understand what the writer is intending to convey.”
University hopefuls who participated in the session said, “I now know what I should be studying. I’m really motivated!” and “They walked us through on how to solve problems. I’m ready to work really hard to take the entrance tests.” The lectures seemed to boost their motivation to perform their best in the exams next February.
Applications for the general entrance examinations start from January 5th, 2020 (Sunday). It’s now less than two months until the exams. Stay healthy to do your best – it’s crunch time!
