The following bilingual comments were provided by the five 1st-year DGA students who participated in the Tourism Exchange Project.

•I discussed good things and problems about tourism with students from three different countries. This has opened a new horizon to me.

•From this project, I learned how important tourism was for the Japanese economy.

•Through this tourism project, working with students from three different countries made me realize many things about the activation of tourism that I couldn't notice until I joined this project.

•I learned many things. I think I have to study English harder .

•There are many famous places in Kyoto, so it was difficult to look around all the places for a few days. I thought this was the reason why Kyoto was one of the famous sightseeing cities. However, there were also some problems. For example, there were few dust boxes on the streets. Also, it was hard to find night time activities. Moreover, local people often could not speak English. I hope our research helps to improve the tourism industry of Kyoto.

Peach

2016/10/23 14:30:00 Readers4Readers : Reading Project for Helping Cambodian Children

  • Category
  • Posted byRamsden
Currently, fourteen DGA students have participated in a 10-week challenge to reach a collective reading goal of 10,000,000 words under the KUFS original reading project called Readers4Readers.

Readers4Readers is a 10-week sponsored reading project starting October 1st, 2016 and running through mid-December. It’s ultimate goal is to raise funds to build libraries and educational facilities in rural Cambodia.

Funds are raised by the SWAP Network from both individual and organizational donors. Students from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies volunteer to support the project as readers. They set a collective reading goal for the 10-week period that exceeds what they would normally read for their classes. Once the collective goal is reached, then funds raised by SWAP will be released to the recipient. The recipient for this event is RSVP Cambodia, an organization dedicated to building schools and helping children in rural Cambodia meet their needs.

By reading extensively, students at KUFS can more quickly reach their own language learning goals. Simultaneously, they can learn more about the world through their reading, as well as become more aware of situations in less privileged parts of the world they share. And when donors offer their support, they also become more aware while doing something to help out. Everyone wins, and the world becomes one step closer to peace.

You can also be a supporter for this project! Please go to the following link for further information.
