| This collection centers on Samuel Johnson (1709-1784), the distinguished British dictionary editor and man of letter. The centerpiece of the collection is first edition of A Dictionary of the English Language, the first comprehensive dictionary of English begun by Johnson in1474 and completed in 1755. It also includes originals editions of many of his other publications, together with research works on Johnson himself. | |||
