本書は､ 豊前中津藩主奥平昌高 (1781-1855) の命により編集された日本語―オランダ語の辞書で､ 中津藩にて刊行されており､ 一名 『中津辞書』 ともいわれる｡ この辞書は日本語辞書､ 節用集に模していろは順に配列､ 各項目をそれぞれ天文､ 地理等19門に分類し､ 約7,000語を収録している｡ オランダ語の読み方の表記はない｡ 藩主奥平昌高は､ 薩摩藩主島津重豪の次男で､ オランダ語をよく話し､ 長崎のオランダ商館長ドゥーフよりオランダ名を贈られている｡ また､ 馬場佐十郎 (1787-1822) は名を貞由といい､ 語学の才に恵まれ､ 蘭語学書やロシア語学書を著述しており､ 本書のまえがきを蘭文で書いている｡ 尚､ 中津藩の家臣神谷弘孝が大いに協力している｡ 写本は2冊本､ 刊本の方は5冊本のうちの4冊で､ 5巻目が欠本となっている｡ 綴じは3カ所を鋲で止めるという方法が採られている｡
This work is a Japanese-Dutch dictionary compiled on the orders of Masataka Okudaira, Lord of Buzen-Nakatsu (1781-1855); published in Nakatsu, the work is sometimes known as the Nakatsu jisho. It is arranged similarly to the setsuyoshu dictionaries of Japanese current at the time, containing a total of around 7,000 words under nineteen headings such as Astronomy, Geography etc. |
