Photographs taken from the top of Manaslu (8,163 meters) in Nepal was sent from Yuki Ueda, a photographer and KUFS graduate from the Department of British and American Studies in 2010, who succeeded in summitting the eighth highest mountain in the world in the early morning of Friday, September 27th.

Because the weather was turning worse on him, Ueda had to speed up his original schedule and departed his base camp at 4,700 meters on Monday, September 23rd. He achieved his successful summit push from Camp 4 at 7,300 meters.

Climbing Manaslu this season was rather challenging due to unstable weather, and there were only two, maybe three days for him to take his shot. “At one point I didn’t know what was going to happen. The weather was bad and unexpected,” recalls Ueda, as he was hit by a snowstorm while he was attempting to summit the mountain.
He succeeded in reaching the mountain peak regardless, with an unyielding spirit that he gained at KUFS. “Thank you very much for all your support. It’s because of you that I managed to stand on the top at 8,163 meters,” he said.
