The French literary master Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850) is well known in Japan as the father of modern realism. The volumes in this collection include Le lis dans la vallée -- said to be strongly autobiographical -- as well as Oeuvres complètes de M. de Balzac, not to mention studies of these works and studies of the author himself.
