ゼミの運営方針、テーマ

All the hardworking and ambitious third-year and fourth-year students who would be interested in studying Japan in comparison with the United States (or other Asian and European countries) in the areas of global business, management, corporate governance, gender and sexuality, transgender and LGBT studies, race and immigration, marriage and family, masculinity, and work and employment would benefit greatly from taking this seminar class.
Lectures, in-class communications, and the course assignments in this seminar will be conducted in English. Those who plan to study abroad or obtain professional jobs and internship experiences in global companies will find this seminar's bilingual, multicultural approach very useful. Students who take this seminar who want to conduct research in the above areas of interest but who wish to write the graduate thesis in Japanese rather than in English may want to consult with the instructor in advance.
In this seminar, students are provided with a variety of opportunities to enhance their unique skills and knowledge on the way to completing their thesis at the end of the fourth year. As a supplement to their thesis research, students are expected to engage in extensive reading of articles from American and European journals on business management and social problems (with the specific contents to be determined based on the students' areas of interest and special requests). Students are also expected to conduct original research in order to complete their thesis.
