At College Residence, which is a residence for foreign students, a party hosted by the resident director was held to get to know the people in the neighborhood.

About 50 children from the neighborhood were divided into four groups-Switzerland, South Korea, Taiwan, and China-to learn not only languages but also about foreign countries through familiar themes. The teachers were foreign students studying at the university.
With the aim of making friends with people from abroad, the No. 6 Kyoto Municipal Shujaku Elementary School (Yoko Yamada, Principal), located in the College Residence neighborhood, invited foreign students to the school. The students answered a number of questions from the children and played games with them afterward.

A field trip to Tottori is taken in May or June every year for students (including exchange students) enrolled in the Course in Japanese Studies for Foreign Students. They stay at the "Shikano-so" seminar house, (Shikano-cho, Kidaka-gun, Tottori Prefecture), interact with local people, and enjoy memorable activities with the cooperation of the people of Shikano-cho.
