2. Number of applicants accepted

* The number of applicants accepted includes the number of applicants accepted for the international student admission examination targeting those residing in Japan.

3. Application qualification

Those who are of other than Japanese nationality, for whom either (1) or (2) below applies, and who meet (3) and (4) or (5)

  1. Those who have completed twelve years of education at a school outside of Japan and those who expect to complete their education by March 2019, who are qualified to enroll in university in said country and who will reach 18 years of age by March 31, 2019
  2. Those who are recognized by Kyoto University of Foreign Studies as having qualifications equivalent to or exceeding (1) above
  3. Those who are living outside of Japan
  4. Those who will be able to hand in any certificate fulfilled the following standard by the application period in the examination enforced after in April 2017

    • Either a score of 650 in TOEIC (L&R), 61 in TOEFL iBT, or 5.0 in IELTS
    [ Department of Global Tourism ]
    • Either a score of 520 in TOEIC (L&R), 53 in TOEFL iBT, or 4.0 in IELTS
    • A score of 60% or higher in "Japanese language" and "integrated course" subjects for "Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students," or "Japanese Language Proficiency Test N2"
  5. Those who are recognized by Kyoto University of Foreign Studies as having qualifications equivalent to or exceeding item (4)

4. Screening process

Comprehensive admission decision based on essay (English for Department of Global Studies, Japanese for Department of Global Tourism) assigned in advance, "Japanese language" and "integrated subject" courses for "Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students" and "Japanese Language Proficiency Test" results, and "TOEIC" or other examination results (excluding native English speakers) and submitted documents

5. Results announcement

Our university will inform all the applicants in date of results in the entrance examination by express mail.

6. Admission examination fee

Please pay ¥20,000 (Japanese yen) by credit card.
Accepted credit cards: VISA, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay Ginren

* Examination fees that have already been paid will not be refunded for any reason.
* The name on the card does not need to be the name of the applicant.

Tuition and proxy collection fees have been determined for the 2019 academic year as follows.

  1. Spring term tuition and proxy collection fees are paid during the admission process. Autumn term tuition is paid in late Sept. 2019. (Notification sent out in early Sept. 2019.)
  2. Tuition and proxy collection fees from second year on:
    1. From the second year on, students pay tuition (except for admission fees) and proxy collection fees (except for admission fees).
      Course fees for the Faculty of Global Engagement increases 35,000 yen every semester from the third semester after you got a school register.
    2. The amount for course fees and education enhancement fees from the second year on may change according to fluctuations in the economic climate.
    3. Graduation album fees, campus promotion cooperation fees, and other fees are collected during the graduation school year.

Admission Fee Exemption System

International students of especially high scholastic standing may be exempt from paying admission fees (the equivalent amount is returned after admission). This applies to those who meet the following standards at the time of application.

[Aptitude examination/standards]

Department of Global Studies Results equivalent to a score exceeding either a score of 730 in TOEIC (L&R), 68 in TOEFL iBT, or 5.5 in IELTS
Department of Global Tourism Results equivalent to a score exceeding either a score of 650 in TOEIC (L&R), 61 in TOEFL iBT, or 5.5 in IELTS, and results equivalent to a score exceeding either a score of 240 or higher in "Japanese language" and 120 or higher for "integrated subject" courses for "Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students", Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 (108 or higher) or Japanese Language Proficiency Test N2 (144 or higher)
