皆さんこんにちは！グローバル観光学科2年次生の中川理子です。春休みも後半戦に突入しましたね。皆さんは残りの春休みどのように過ごす予定ですか。
今回は私が参加したCEP「京都スピリチュアル」での活動と感想について記事にしたいと思います。京都スピリチュアルでは神道の根本的な考え方や日本文化の理解、神社参拝やその神社周辺の街歩きプランを作成し実施することが主な目的です。
事前学習として神道について各チーム調査し、それについてのパワーポイントを作成し発表しました。神道とは日本に深く関係し、私たち日本人が知っておくべき基本的な考えです。百人いれば百人の道があるようにほかの宗教のような具体的な縛りはありません。すべての自然や生き物に霊魂が宿り、人間が祀るものすべてが神になるという考えです。
実際に神社に訪れ神職の方からのお話を聞くという貴重な体験をすることができました。そこでは神社にまつわる神話や神職の方の一日の過ごし方などお聞きすることができました。特に神社の神話についてのお話は、その神社の御利益や名前の由来に関係していて興味深かったです。お話を聞いてほかの人にも伝えたいと思ったお話は、神社を参拝する際には由緒書を見てから参拝したほうがいいということでした。その理由は由緒書にはこの神社にはどのような神様がいてどのようなご利益があるのかなど神社についての基本情報が書かれているからです。参拝する際にその情報を知ってからの参拝と知らないままの参拝では絶対に違うからです。
次に私たちはチームごとに街歩きプランを作成しました。作成の際には実際に街歩きの対象となる神社周辺を自分たちで散策しお店を発見するなどしました。現代ではスマートフォンで簡単に調べることができますが、実際にその場所に訪れたからこそ見つかった路地の中にあるお店や、小さいお店などもありました。
CEP京都スピリチュアルを通して、私は神道や神社についての興味が以前より確実に高まりました。日本人にとって神社参拝は欠かせない文化の一つです。私は京都スピリチュアルで得た知識や経験を、私の身の回りの人たちにその魅力とともに伝えていきたいと思います。
Hello everyone! My name is Riko Nakagawa, a second-year student in the Department of Global Tourism. We are now in the second half of spring break. How do you plan to spend the rest of your holidays?
This time, I would like to write about my activities and impressions of the Kyoto Spiritual CEP in which I participated. The main purpose of Kyoto Spiritual is to understand the fundamental ideas of Shintoism and Japanese culture, and to create and implement a plan to visit shrines, if possible on foot.
As a preliminary study, each team researched Shinto and made a PowerPoint presentation. Shinto is deeply related to Japan and is a basic idea that we Japanese should know. There are no concrete restrictions like in other religions, as there are 100 different paths for every 100 people. It is the belief that all nature and all living things have a spirit, and that everything we worship can become a kami, or deity.
I had the valuable experience of visiting a shrine and hearing a story from a priest. There, we were able to hear about the myths surrounding the shrine and how the priests spend their day. It was especially interesting to hear about the mythology of the shrine as related to the origin of the shrine's name and its divine powers. One of the things I wanted to share with others was that it is better to read up on history before visiting a shrine. The reason for this is that armed with basic information, such as what kind of deity is enshrined there and what kind of blessings are bestowed upon visitors, makes a real difference when visiting the shrine.
Next, each team created a walking plan. We walked around the neighborhoods near the shrines and discovered various interesting spots by ourselves. Today, we can easily look things up on our smartphones, but we could find interesting spots and small stores in hidden alleyways only by actually visiting the place.
Through the Kyoto Spirituality CEP, my interest in Shinto and shrines has definitely increased. For Japanese people, visiting shrines is an essential part of our culture. I would like to share the knowledge and experience I gained through the Kyoto Spirituality program with people around me.
