こんにちは、グローバル観光1年次生のフェン　ティ　リーです。いよいよ1年で1番長い休暇に突入しました。うろたえて、緊張した入学式を昨日のように感じていますが。もうすぐ2年生になってしまいますよね。「できるだけ時間がある大学生のうちに、足を運んで」、これは私の中で残っている観光学科のある先生がおしゃった言葉の一つです。観光学科の皆さんは色々な所に行きましたか？1年生は忙しいと思いますが、私が大学に入った頃の「京都の色々な所に行く」という自分との約束を遂げられるように、余裕がある時間で京都を回りました。

去年の年末、同じ学科の先輩と一緒に下鴨泉川町の辺りを回りました。私たちは下鴨神社へ訪れ、そちらで河合神社や糺の森を巡ったり、おみくじを引いたりしました。下鴨神社のおみくじは特殊でおみくじの紙を水に浸す「水みくじ」形式です。みたらし池の水に浮かべて、おみくじの結果が浮かび上がるのを楽しめました。

京都は伝統的な所だと知られていますが、今回はお洒落な「京都」の一面を紹介したいと思います。神社を巡ってから、お昼の時間になったので、先輩が上京区にあるミーミーミーという喫茶店に連れて行ってくれました。初めてこのお店に行きましたが、印象が強く残りました。お店は材木と白熱電球をメインにデザインされ、一見、古いお店だと感じるかもしれませんが、その飾り方のクラシカルなスタイルを注目したいと思います。お店にあるものすべてがこだわられて、すごくお洒落な空間になっています。私たちはトーストとお茶を頼んで、一緒にゆっくり味わいました。その時、周りには多くのヨーロッパのお客さんがいました。パソコンを打ったり、スーツを着たり、隣にビジネスバッグを置いて、急いで昼食する日常の姿ではなく、お店で皆さんが本を読んだり、お茶を飲んだり、友達や家族と喋ったりしていました。その様子を見るだけで、心が落ち着かれました。年末の寒さの中で、暖かいものを味わいながら、そのお店の暖かい雰囲気で過ごすことは本当に素晴らしいと感じました。

皆さんがゆっくり過ごす所をお探しでしたら、このお店は皆さんの心を落ち着かせると思います。以上で私のブロクを終わります。これからも皆さんと京都の色々な所を共有することを楽しみにしています。

Hello everyone! My name is Huynh Thi Ly and I’m a freshman majoring in Global Tourism. We have finally entered the longest vacation of the school year. I still remember as if it was yesterday, the excitement and slight confusion I felt during our entrance ceremony.

We will soon be sophomores. “While in college, go to as many places as you can”. This is something that a teacher from the Department of Global Tourism said and it still resonates with me. All of you in Global Tourism: have you managed to visit lots of places? I think that most of us were busy, but to fulfill the promise I made to myself when I entered the university of visiting lots of places in Kyoto I tried to go to as many places as I could.

At the end of last year I walked around the Shimogamo Izumigawa area with a senior student from the Department of Tourism. We visited Shimogamo Shrine, where we toured Kawai Shrine, Tadasu no Mori, and drew omikuji charms. The omikuji at Shimogamo Shrine is a "water omikuji”. It is made of paper and is soaked in water. We made them float on the water of the Mitarashi Pond and we enjoyed watching the predictions appear on the omikuji.

Kyoto is known as a traditional city, but this time I would like to introduce you to the fashionable side of Kyoto. After visiting the shrines, it was time for lunch, so my senior took me to a coffee shop called Me Me Me in Kamigyo Ward. It was the first time for me to go to this coffee house but it left a strong impression on me. The coffee shop is designed mainly with lumber and lightbulbs. At first glance, you may feel that you are in an old shop, but it actually makes you pay close attention to the classical style of its decoration. Everything in the shop is unique, and that creates a stylish space. We ordered toast with tea and enjoyed them together. On that day there were many European customers. Instead of typing on a computer, wearing a suit, putting a business bag on the chair and having lunch in a hurry, everyone was either reading a book, drinking tea, or talking with friends and family. Just looking at them made me feel calm.

In the cold of the last days of the year, I felt grateful to be able to spend time in the warm space of that coffee shop and enjoy its warm foods.　If you are looking for a place to relax, I think this shop will make you feel at ease.
