みなさんこんにちは！グローバル観光学科2年次生の福井健太郎です。ついに夏休みが始まりました！暑い日々が続いますので、体調にお気をつけて夏休みを楽しんでください！今回のブログでは、グローバル観光学科で唯一取れる資格課程の『博物館学芸員資格』について紹介します！

『博物館学芸員資格』とは博物館や美術館だけでなく、植物園、水族館などに勤務する専門職員になるための学芸員資格を取得するための課程です。学芸員は博物館の資料を収集、保管、展示をします。また資料を調査、研究し関連事業を行う仕事をします。京都外国語大学でこの資格を取得することができます！この資格課程を希望する方は2年次春学期（1年秋学期から事前履修可能です）、または3年次春学期に登録が可能です。2年～3年（人によってはのんびりと～）かけて履修し資格を取得します。京都外国語大学は「国際文化資料館」という併設の博物館がありここを実践の場として学んでいます。

私がこの資格課程を履修しようと思った理由は、美術館に興味があったこと、また資格を取得したいと思ったからです。そして実際に2年次春学期から履修し、良かったことが２つあります。さまざまなことに興味を持つようになり視野が広がったことや、この資格課程を取っている人との繋がりが広がったことがとてもよかったです。学芸員資格を取るためにさまざまな博物館に関する授業を受講しました。普段は博物館に訪問する側として考えることとは違い、学芸員は来館者が学びのある博物館になってもらえるようにいろいろな工夫をしていることを知ることができました。

またこの資格課程はグローバル観光学科だけではなく、他の学科からも多く履修しているため人脈が広がりました。他の学科の学生と交流することで新たな発見をしたり切磋琢磨しあったりしています！

『博物館学芸員資格課程』で学んだことは、単に学芸員になるためだけではなく色々な分野に生かすことができます！

春学期と秋学期に『博物館学概論』(担当はグローバル観光学科の南先生)という授業があり、博物館の歴史や発展してきた背景、また博物館とはどういう施設なのかなど学芸員資格課程の導入を学ぶことができます！

Hello everyone!

My name is Kentaro Fukui and I am a sophomore in the Department of Global Tourism. Our summer vacation is finally here! The hot days continue, so please take care of yourself and enjoy the break! In this vlog, I will introduce the Museum Curator Certificate course that is open to all GT students.

The Museum Curator Certificate is a qualification aimed at museum employees and also people that work in aquariums, botanical gardens and so on.

Curators are engaged in collecting, storing, exhibiting and studying museum materials. This course can be taken at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies.

For students who want to take this certificate, registration is open in your spring semester of your sophomore year (Students can register in advance from their freshman fall semester) or the spring semester of your junior year. Students can take 2 or 3 years to pass the course and get qualified. Kyoto University of Foreign Studies has the University Museum of Cultures on campus, where students can engage in practical study towards their certification.

I decided to take this course and study towards the certificate because I am interested in museums. I started to take this class in this past spring semester. There were two good points about the course: I became interested in various things that were being taught about museum work, and I could connect with other students who are also taking this course. I learned that I usually think as a visitor, whereas curators make efforts to create a learning experience for visitors. Actually, this course is open to students from the Department of Global Tourism, as well as students from other departments, so I could make connections and interact with those students. It was fun to work hard together.

What you learn in this course is not just for students interested in becoming a museum curator, but can be applied to many different fields!

In spring and fall semester, we have a subject which was named Introduction to Museum Studies, which is taught by Professor Minami in the Department of Global Tourism. We can learn museum history, how museums have developed, what constitutes a museum and so on.

If you are interested in this class, I recommend taking it!
